Awareness: The First Step
Towards a Healthier Future
Dr. Elliott P. Joslin, the world-renowned diabetologist,
once remarked: "A diabetic who knows most, lives longest."
At the Odisha Diabetes Foundation, we hold this belief at the core of our vision.

Our goal is to ensure that everyone, especially the younger generation, becomes aware of life-threatening lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, and obesity. By promoting awareness and encouraging people to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle, we aim to curb the growing epidemic of lifestyle-related diseases.
Awareness: The 4 Pillars of Diabetes Management
ODF emphasizes that awareness and education are the foundations of ideal diabetes management. Our approach revolves around the following four critical pillars:
- Regular Monitoring
- Blood sugar levels and HbA1c must be consistently tracked to ensure early detection of fluctuations and complications.
- Proper Medication
- Following the prescribed medications, whether tablets or insulin, is essential for maintaining balanced blood sugar levels.
- Diet Control
- A balanced, healthy diet plays a vital role in controlling diabetes.
- Education on meal planning and nutritional choices is a key component of our awareness programs.
- Regular Exercise
- Incorporating physical activity into daily life helps improve insulin sensitivity, control weight, and reduce the risk of complications.
Our Commitment to Community Awareness
ODF has always prioritized spreading awareness through various community programs and initiatives. These programs focus on educating people about diabetes risk factors, symptoms, types, and the importance of proper management. By empowering communities with knowledge and resources, we aim to build a society that is well-equipped to prevent and control diabetes effectively.
